| |  Design research and product design of home UPS Amaron | Background Amara Raja group, that owns the Amaron battery brand, wanted to create a path-breaking product in the home-inverter category. While grim power situation in the country combined with absence of a real good stylish product in the market presents a positive note, but current battery technology that needs a lot of maintenance that presented a big challenge. Onio's role was to figure out the latent needs of the several segments of the market including the question of whether the product like home UPS/inverter, should hide way into a furniture or show up like a chandelier. |
| | Methodology Several in-depth user and dealer interviews following the ethnographic best practices, were conducted across the country in tier-1, 2 and 3 cities. Product analysis of the competition as well as parallel products in similar usage was conducted. Expert opinion of architects and builders of modern townships was accounted for as well. Proposition Home inverter would soon be available in the user-friendly and stylish design across the country, as a result of this research and subsequent design of the product by Onio team. |
